- Wear It Purple Day Initiated in Australia, participants wear purple to show support for LGBTQIA+ youth, celebrating diversity and promoting a safe, inclusive environment free from bullying and discrimination. The movement was founded in 2010 by high school students Katherine Hudson and Scott Williams. It was created as a direct, empowering response to a string of teen suicides around the world who had been bullied and harassed because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. The color purple was specifically chosen as a symbol of unity and bringing people from all backgrounds together Comment with a picture of the purple you’re wearing!
