If you can run 5K in around 35 minutes… you’re honestly way closer to a half marathon than you think. Most people just train completely wrong 😭 They run every session too hard, never recover properly and then wonder why nothing improves. I did the exact same thing back then. Just going out, running kinda hard every day thinking more suffering = more progress. Spoiler: it doesn’t 😅 What actually helped me improve was finally adding some structure. Nothing crazy. Just consistency. 👉 25–40 km per week 👉 mostly easy running 👉 one proper workout 👉 one longer run That’s it. A simple week could look like this: 👉 2 easy runs around 6:50–7:30/km 👉 1 interval session 👉 1 long run And please… easy runs should actually feel easy 😭 You should be able to talk while running. The workout that helped me most at that level: 👉 6 × 400m @ ~5:50–6:00/km 60 sec easy rest or: 👉 5 × 800m @ ~6:00/km 90 sec easy jog Nothing heroic. Just controlled effort. One quality session per week is completely enough. And the long run? That’s honestly where the magic happens. 👉 Start with 8–10 km 👉 slowly build towards 16–18 km And sometimes: finish the last few kilometers slightly faster. That teaches your body to run tired. People underestimate that so much. Truth is: most runners don’t lack talent. They lack patience and structure. I had to relearn that too after my knee surgery. Now looking back, I honestly wish someone told me earlier that not every run needs to hurt. Consistency beats motivation every single time. So if you’re stuck right now: don’t quit. You probably just need better structure 🤝 Where are you currently at with your running? 👇 Follow for real training, honest progress and no fake “run every day till burnout” advice 🔥 always on fire
