Maybe you *shouldn't* get a family dairy cow. 🙃 And I don’t say that to discourage anyone from getting one...because I genuinely love having a family milk cow. But I do think sometimes we romanticize the milk and forget about everything that comes with it. There’s feed. Fencing. Breeding. Calving. Milking every single day. Finding a hoof trimmer. Finding a large animal vet. Learning how to recognize when something isn’t right. Dealing with things like mastitis. Figuring out what to do when your cow suddenly decides she has absolutely no interest in cooperating with the plan you had for the morning. 😅 The milk is incredible. Knowing where our food comes from is incredible. But if you don't have time to figure out the things listed above...maybe getting milk from the store or from your local farmer is a better option for you! 🐮 . . #dairycows #milkcow #homestead #farmlife #dairygoats
