The Puebla family’s son, Matthew, was stillborn at 25 weeks in April 2023. What followed was grief, the uncertainty of trying again, and anxiety overshadowing Laura’s next pregnancy. After welcoming their daughter Emily in June 2024, Laura developed peripartum cardiomyopathy — a rare, life-threatening heart condition — that required hospitalization and time away from her newborn.
