Rachel Danis’ 60 Minutes Comments Are Raising More Questions Than They Answer Rachel says she doesn’t understand how “the story got so twisted.” And my response is: It’s not a story, sister. It’s evidence. Then she calls Patrick a loving, devoted father. And again — based on what? Because if you met him after his children were already gone, you did not know him intimately as a father inside that family before the murders. You know the man you met afterward. That is not the same thing. And then we get: “I was just a girl who met a guy running in Central Park on a cold Saturday…” Ma’am. This is not Julia Roberts in Notting Hill. This is not: “I’m just a girl, standing in front of a boy…” This is a man whose entire family had already been destroyed by one of the most horrific cases in the country. So yes — people are going to think it’s more complicated than a cute winter meet-cute in Central Park. And if you walk onto 60 Minutes and publicly vouch for Patrick’s character, then people are allowed to ask: What do you actually know firsthand… and what are you simply choosing to believe? Because those are two very different things.
