🔴At Least 15 Killed in Bombing at Pakistani Police Mosque in Kohat, Pakistan 📍KOHAT, Pakistan | September 18, 2026 | HewadPress:— At least 15 people were killed and 56 others injured Friday when a vehicle packed with explosives detonated near a mosque and police offices in Kohat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to officials. The explosion struck the Old Police Lines area while worshippers were gathered for Friday prayers. Five police officers and 10 civilians were among those killed, according to the latest figures reported by the local officials. Rescue 1122 spokesperson Bilal Ahmed Faizi said emergency personnel transported the wounded to nearby medical facilities. Several victims were reported to be in critical condition. Officials said the attacker used an explosives-laden vehicle and that at least two armed assailants attempted to storm the police compound after the explosion. Police exchanged gunfire with the attackers as security forces sealed off the area. The blast caused extensive damage to the mosque and nearby police buildings and was felt across a wide area. Rescue teams continued searching the wreckage for possible survivors. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attack and instructed authorities to provide immediate medical assistance to the wounded. No organization immediately claimed responsibility. However, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has experienced a sharp increase in militant violence, much of it blamed on the Pakistani Taliban, also known as Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. This is a developing story. Casualty figures may change as authorities release additional information.
