The Gundam Global Challenge, launched in 2014, set out to build a life-sized, moving Gundam just like the one from the anime. Engineers in Japan made it happen: the suit stands 18 meters tall and can move its arms, legs, and torso. The goal was to eventually have it piloted from the cockpit, just like in the show. But there’s one catch a Japanese safety regulation prohibits humans from operating giant robots.
