If you're about to have a bone marrow transplant, I hope this finds you. 🤍   I remember sitting exactly where you are... searching for answers, terrified of the unknown, wondering what recovery would really feel like.   Here's what I wish someone had told me.   The transplant isn't the finish line—it's the beginning. Recovery is slow, and your body needs time to rebuild. Some days you'll feel stronger, and others you'll wonder if you're moving backwards. That's normal.   Your immune system starts from scratch, so protecting yourself from infection becomes part of everyday life. Listen to your doctors, and don't ignore new symptoms.   The conditioning chemo before transplant was harder on me than I expected. I dealt with extreme fatigue, nausea, painful mouth sores, stomach issues, changes in taste, almost no appetite, and my blood counts dropped so low that I barely had the energy to get out of bed. It was temporary, but in those moments it felt endless.   One thing people don't talk about enough is the mental side of recovery. Being isolated for weeks, missing your family, and not recognizing your own body can be incredibly hard. Give yourself grace. Healing isn't just physical.   And finally... don't lose hope. There were days I truly questioned if I'd ever feel like myself again. Today, I'm grateful I kept believing through the hardest moments.   If you're about to start this journey, know that you're not alone. I'm here, and so is this community. 🤍   If you've had a bone marrow transplant, what's one thing you wish someone had told you beforehand? Leave it in the comments—you might help someone who's reading this today.   This is my personal experience, not medical advice. Always follow the guidance of your transplant team.   #bonemarrowtransplant #bmt #bloodcancer #cancerjourney #stemcelltransplant #healingjourney #cancersurvivor #cancertok
