I personally use protective sleeves on my badges, but that's completely optional. To attach each badge, slide the pin through the mushroom-shaped opening in the insert. I use the rigid back of a pair of tweezers to push the insert in place. Be careful with rare or expensive badges, as uneven pressure can sometimes bend the bar of the pin. The trick is to push the metal bar of the pin as high as possible before pressing the insert down. And that's it!
